TIPS ON SAFE DRIVING

Keeping your car in safe working condition is very important and regular checks and services should be undertaken. Apart from regular services by your mechanic or garage, there are simple checks that you can do yourself to ensure better Car Safety. These checks are:

Tyres – Check your tyres to make sure they are the correct pressure. This information can be found in your car handbook. Also check your tyre threads and check for any tears, nails and possible punctures. Also check your spare type condition.

Water – Check your car has sufficient water in the engine. You should also include coolant and antifreeze.

Engine Oil Level – Check your oil level every few weeks and top up if necessary. It is no harm to keep spare oil in the boot as part of your Car Safety checklist

Spare tyre tools – Make sure you have working order tools for changing a tyre including a jack and wheel removal tools.

Windscreen Wipers – They can wear down and start to smear your windscreen. Replace once a year.

Windscreen – Check for chips as these can crack over time which can be dangerous if driving.

Screenwash – Check you have water for your wipers and include an additive along with water to help clear oily grime.

Lights – Checking on a regular basis that lights are in working order is an important Car Safety checkpoint as well as a legal requirement. Also check that they are clean.
